PRAYER FOR ST. ANDREW’S FROM PERE FRED
Oh Lord of all, as we continue to celebration your resurrection from the dead, bless us in all we do, especially, bless St. Andrew’s church as they are looking for a new Priest to spiritually guide them through you. Be with them in their decision to choose that priest for the glory of your Name, Amen!!
Blessings! And good luck!
Pere Fred

CELEBRATE PENTECOST–SUNDAY, JUNE 4
On Sunday, June 4, we will start our summer worship time of one service at 9:00 am as we celebrate the Day of Pentecost. We will hear the simultaneous reading of Acts 2:1-21 in multiple languages and pray the Lord’s Prayer in different languages. (If you speak another language please plan to participate!) Remember to wear something red, the color for Pentecost representing flames of fire and the coming of the Holy Spirit. After the service, please plan to join us for a festive coffee hour celebrating the church’s birthday! A sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board.

ST. ANDREW’S PLOT AGAINST HUNGER SIGN UP

Anne and Ted will be hosting a work day in the garden this Saturday, March 20 at 10:30 am. Please consider coming and joining us. Additionally, we have had no sign ups on the Sign Up Genius this year. We need weekday volunteers or we will not be able to sustain this great outreach opportunity. Please commit an hour to the garden when you can. The Sign Up Genius is at: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0e4eabab2aab9-standrews. Thank you!

SUMMER MURDER MYSTERY BOOK CLUB IS BACK!
Now that summer is almost here, it’s time for the return of the St. Andrew’s Murder Mystery Book Club! This year we’ll be reading “Grantchester” by James Runcie (the first book in the series). If this title sounds familiar, you may know it from the popular PBS series. Be sure to get your copy now, as we’ll gather on August 6 to discuss our thoughts about the book. Happy reading!

GUEST PREACHER THIS SUNDAY

The Rev. Jackie Thomson will be our guest preacher on Sunday, May 21.

MEMORIAL DAY ADULT FORUM: 9:00 AM SUNDAY, MAY 28, 2017
Please join John Schriver and Jim Williams at a Memorial Day Adult Forum at 9:00 am on Sunday, May 28, in the Lounge, to honor those who lost their lives in defending our country in any of its conflicts. We ask that you recognize your loved ones by briefly telling us their story. You could read a letter or telegram from or about them, share an anecdote, or show memorabilia such as a service medal. A well-known example would be the letter of Sullivan Ballou, a major in the 2nd Rhode Island Infantry Regiment, to his wife on the eve of the First Battle of Bull Run, in which he was mortally wounded.
John, a retired USN flight surgeon, has seen first-hand the tragedy of war. Jim, a retired Foreign Service Officer, has served with colleagues from all branches of the Armed Forces.

MUSIC NOTES
We have many exciting music events coming to St. Andrew’s! On May 28, the Sounds of the Southwest Singers will be joining us in worship. They will be sharing some sacred selections during the service, and a short post-worship concert including patriotic songs to honor those who have served our nation.
Also, St. Andrew’s choir is joining with Holy Cross of Dunn Loring and others in a concert with the Raleigh Boy Choir in our church on Saturday, June 24 at 7 pm. This is an event you won’t want to miss as we celebrate how Music Brings Us Together.

This is the first Sunday of our summer schedule — one Choral Eucharist with Family Service of the Word at 9:00 am. Looking forward to seeing you then!
From last Sunday: Jesus reminds us that living our lives the way God wants will lead us to Him. God’s most special “map” for us is the Bible. That’s the reason we use it each week to help us “learn the way.”
Discussion Starter: How have you followed Jesus this week? What good choices have you made?
Prayer Starter: Dear God, Sometimes we can get lost in our lives. We are so thankful to have you as our guide. Help us to make good choices this week. Amen.
Next Sunday: We show our love for Jesus by following God’s commandments. We’ll look at some of those commandments.

LAY WORSHIP MINISTERS NEEDED
Thank you to all who attended the informational meeting with Ana White. Please let Ana know ASAP if you would like to be added as a Lay Worship Minister and in what capacity. If you were unable to attend the meeting and would like more information, please email Ana at anazeliaoxw@gmail.com.

ST. ANDREW’S PLOT AGAINST HUNGER

Last week, John watered on Tuesday and Mother Nature took care of the rest of the week. Ted set up new enclosures for some of the apple trees using fishing line. We’ll see if this keeps the deer away. Dave burned weeds in the garden on Saturday in the mist (perfect timing). Anne, Ted, Doris and Dave were able to get into the garden and planted 70 tomatoes and 50 peppers on Sunday. We also picked radishes and some leeks from last fall. Ted delivered our first shipment of produce totaling 11 pounds on Sunday.
